Racing to Protect the Planet: You Can Make a Difference!
Hello friends, family, and fellow nature enthusiasts! We're thrilled to take on the challenge of running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in 2024. With Fermin gearing up for his third full marathon, and Su-Yen for her second, we're not just chasing personal bests - it’s a heartfelt pledge to make a difference by raising US$2,500 for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
Our love for the great outdoors and the magnificent creatures that inhabit it has fueled us to take action. We’ve witnessed firsthand the beauty of wildlife and the fragility of their existence during our hiking adventures and travel expeditions. There is something profoundly moving about looking into the eyes of a majestic silverback gorilla in the wild in Rwanda, or standing amidst thousands of penguins in Antarctica, and recognizing our shared connection to this planet. It is this connection that drives us to run, not just for ourselves, but for the countless species facing the brink of extinction.
Running 42.2 kilometers is no small feat, and neither is our goal to raise US$2,500 for the WWF. We are committed to putting in the weekly runs, the sweat, and the perseverance required to cross that finish line. Our training plan is in place, our running shoes are laced up, and we are set on making a difference. But we can’t do it alone - we need your support.
How You Can Help: WWF works to sustain the natural world for the benefit of people and wildlife, collaborating with partners from local to global levels in nearly 100 countries. Join us in this race against time by donating here to help conserve the largest tropical rain forests, the most remote areas of our planet, and our world's most endangered species.
We are immensely grateful for your support. Together, we're making a statement that protecting the diversity of life on earth is paramount, and that we all have a part to play. No contribution is too small; every dollar brings us a step closer to a world where human needs are met in harmony with nature.
Stay tuned, as we'll be sharing regular updates on our training progress and interesting wildlife facts.
Thank you for believing in a better, wilder world. Join us in protecting our world’s most important wildlife and natural places.
